Most nativity scenes keep an ox and a donkey by the manger, but this one invites the whole woodland in, which makes it the natural pick for a household that feeds the birds all winter. A deer, a fox, a rabbit and an owl crowd close to the swaddled baby beneath an arch of twigs wound with holly and red berries, while a red cardinal perches in the branches above. Lit from within, the little grove turns gold after dark. RAZ Imports sets the scene on a snowy base trimmed with a holly garland. It suits a birdwatcher with a feeder outside the kitchen window, and it is a gracious way to thank the host of this year's cabin Christmas.
