Sports Applique Christmas Stocking

For the kid who falls asleep with a ball in the bed. This felted wool stocking runs 19" long by 11 1/2" across in a natural cream, with a baseball, a football and a basketball appliqued down the front and red blanket stitch worked along the top edge. The cotton back and lining give it enough body to hang straight from the mantel hook instead of curling in on itself, and a loop is sewn in at the corner. Mud Pie kept the palette quiet enough that it hangs beside a mixed set of family stockings rather than fighting them. Spot clean only. Fill it with team socks, new grip tape, trading cards and an orange in the toe.
