Snowman Needlepoint Ornament

Worked stitch by stitch, this 4" x 2 1/2" ornament shows a snowman in a black top hat with a red band, an orange carrot nose and a red scarf wound at his neck. The outline is whipstitched in red and finished with a cotton cord loop, and the back is velvet, so it has real weight in the hand rather than the flatness of a printed disc. Hang it toward the front of the tree where the stitching can be read up close. Mud Pie kept it small enough to tie onto a wrapped present in place of a bow, which is how the best ones end up on someone else's tree. It also drops neatly into a stocking.
