A black top hat sits above the face, its flat crown open as the dish for a pillar candle on this snowman, and the rest is pure winter: coal eyes, a row of dots for a smile and a bright orange carrot nose on a smooth white face. Little lights glow from inside the dolomite with the batteries already in place, so it earns a windowsill or a powder room shelf before a candle ever goes on top. Standing about 3 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches across, it also works in a row of three down a long table. Mud Pie hand-paints each one, which makes it a kind gift for a grandmother who keeps snowmen out all winter.
