The handle on this spreader is a hand-painted reindeer, ears out, antlers dark, and a round red nose that catches the light. Below it the blade is brass-plated stainless steel, and the whole spreader measures 5 1/2 inches, sized for soft cheese, butter or a thick fruit jam. Set it beside a wheel of brie on Christmas Eve and it does real work while it sits there looking festive. Mud Pie mounts it on a kraft card tied with red ribbon, which makes it one of the easiest things to hand someone at the door.
