Ribbon, scissors and a pile of presents cover the dining table, and a green spruce candle burns while you wrap. Its layered boughs are sculpted in deep green paraffin, with the wick rising from the tip, so the candle looks like a tree before it is lit and glows like one after. The deep green suits a winter evening of ribbon and paper.

Boston International makes this candle as a tree you can look at as well as light. Put it beside a plate of cookies on the night the stockings go up, and the boughs give the plate a little forest to sit under. Each tier of boughs is rounded and smooth, and the whole tree tapers up to a single point.
