After an evening of decorating sugar cookies, the finished ones line up on this small rectangular platter while a nutcracker stands guard with his round peppermint swirl. Boston International makes it from ceramic, with soft green snowflakes across the white and a tiny cardinal at his feet.

Peppermint bark broken into pieces fits the rectangle neatly. So does a plate of pastries set out for the neighbors who drop by on a December morning. The compact size keeps the spread cozy, and the smooth, cheerful painting gives a small gathering its own bit of whimsy. Set beside a pot of tea, the little platter puts the sweets within easy reach of every guest.
