Thick cream crochet, worked in a chunky stitch, with small red velvet bows tacked across the front and a loop at the corner for hanging. At 8 inches square it sits under a warm casserole at the table or hangs on the kitchen hook where the bows do the decorating. The Mud Pie blend is 86 percent cotton with rayon, and it is spot clean only, so it belongs at the pretty end of the kitchen rather than the messy one. At this size it ties onto a pan of cinnamon rolls or a jar of cocoa mix, which makes it the gift for a neighbor, a teacher, or the friend whose kitchen is already the gathering place.
